The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the employee lifecycle and driving HR initiatives. This position partners with the HR Manager and the HR Team with the overall administration and operations of the HR Department. This role will be responsible for talent acquisition in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Manager, backup payroll process, and collaborate with the compensation and benefits team. The Senior HR Generalist will easily adapt to business needs and will develop and apply business acumen to assist with complex day-to-day challenges. The Senior HR Generalist must have a strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.


Job Purpose:

  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition Manager to oversee recruitment efforts for all entry-level, professional, technical exempt, nonexempt, and temporary job openings, including executing job advertisements, sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, screening applicants, administering pre-employment tests, and extending employment offer letters.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition Manager, hiring managers and company management to develop talent acquisition tactics.
  • Attend career fairs and other recruitment events as needed.
  • Manages the onboarding process, including background check process, drug screen, HRIS onboarding, and coordination and tracking of new hire training participation.
  • Serves as trusted advisor with department managers to develop and maintain current and accurate job descriptions.
  • Continuously develop and maintain a broad knowledge base of employment law, compensation and benefits, organizational planning and development, employee relations, health and safety, talent acquisition, training and development, and risk management.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conduct thorough investigations and provide sound recommendations.
  • Partner with management on performance management strategies, including coaching, feedback, and disciplinary processes.
  • Lead or contribute to HR projects such as DEI initiatives, HRIS implementations, engagement surveys, and onboarding/offboarding enhancements.
  • Support organizational development initiatives, including change management, workforce planning, and team effectiveness.
  • Analyze and prepare HR metrics and provide insights to inform decision-making and improve processes.
  • Develop, revise, and communicate HR policies and procedures; ensure consistent interpretation and application.
  • Serve as backup to process payroll by reviewing timecards for accuracy and process payroll, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the compensation and benefits team to support accurate and timely HR operations.
  • Collaborate with employee benefits eligibility, changes, cancellations, and open enrollment process.
  • Manage all company activities of the HR Team.
  • Partner with other HR colleagues to reconcile all benefits invoices monthly and alert the appropriate carriers of any discrepancies.
  • Manage leave of absences, including FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and Personal Leave.
  • Manage and maintain employee files.
  • Manage internal and external audits.
  • Prepare company-wide correspondence as needed.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks required to administer and execute HR programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by HR Manager.


Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field or equivalent education, training, and experience is required
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Logistic industry background and experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience in HR is required.
  • 3+ years of experience processing payroll and managing an HRIS.
  • 3+ years of proven recruitment experience across all levels of the organization.
  • 3+ years of experience with benefits administration and implementation.
  • Working understanding of HR principles, practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail and chats, Google docs, forms, and slides, Google meet and calendar) is preferred.
  • HRIS systems experience (e.g., Paycom).
  • Highly perceptive, capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Flexible with the ability to adjust to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and business needs.
  • Positive, inquisitive, proactive, and collaborative attitude with the ability to work well with all company employees, customers, vendors, suppliers, and the public.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities across departmental lines to meet tight deadlines.

  • Polished and professional high level written and verbal communication skills with strong proof-reading/editing capabilities.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships values.

  • Build trust, communicate effectively, foster innovation, focus on the customer and solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP, preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English/Spanish (written, verbal and communication).


Work Setting:
