The Cargo Driver safely and efficiently transports life sciences shipments—such as biological samples, medical kits, and MedTech supplies—in full compliance and on schedule.

This role is essential for handling shipment logistics from airports, laboratories, and other specified sites, making sure that every step of transportation meets top safety standards and follows all regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle and Equipment Management: Safely drive cargo vans, pick-up trucks, and trucks up to 26 feet long. Conduct routine inspections of engines, brakes, lights, and fuel to maintain optimal vehicle condition. Make sure each vehicle is clean and prepared for use daily. Verify that GPS, phones, and security systems are functioning properly before beginning any route.

Cargo Inspection: Check cargo condition on receipt to ensure it meets standards.

• Cargo Handling & Transport: Biological samples, medical kits, MedTech supplies, and other life science shipments are safely loaded, handled, and delivered promptly to ensure proper care and timely arrival.

• Deadline Adherence: Comprehend and fulfil all shipment deadlines by prioritizing time-sensitive deliveries and ensuring completion in accordance with airline cut-off times.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear records of transport operations, including mileage, vehicle inspections, and any incidents. Keep vehicle logbooks updated and promptly inform dispatch of any problems.

• Loading & Unloading cargo: Assist with loading and unloading shipments over 50 lbs., ensuring secure handling.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all TSA, airport, and transportation regulations, maintaining safety and confidentiality at every stage. Promptly report any accidents or concerns to the appropriate authorities.

Qualifications & Skills:

• A valid driver’s license (no CDL needed) and a clean driving record are required.

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is necessary.

• Excellent verbal and written communication for clear teamwork and client facing interaction.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for precise tracking, documentation, and protocol compliance.

• A foundational knowledge of cold chain logistics, biohazard management, and regulatory compliance pertaining to biological and medical shipments is advantageous.

• Familiarity with temperature-sensitive shipping protocols, such as the use of dry ice or gel packs

• Familiarity with scanners, barcodes, and tracking systems is preferred.

• Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Quickly identify and resolve shipment issues to ensure smooth transport and delivery.

• Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Setting

• Functions at airports as well as in urban, suburban, residential, and commercial settings.

• Environments include loading docks, warehouses, aircraft loading zones, air cargo facilities, freight terminals, and cargo ramps.

• Occasional domestic or international travel may be required.

• Ability to carry packages weighing over 50 lbs.
